Blank Page

I sat, blankly staring at the empty page

Looking for inspiration, to capture my thoughts

Alas, I had no thoughts, my mind was clear

My inspiration was stunted, I was at an impasse

What was that I saw, some movement before me

I looked at the page, still blank, but was it

There it was again, a flicker of motion

I closed my eyes, opened them, and blinked

The page blinked back, could it be

The page was watching me with interest

An eye peered out before me

It blinked, the eyeball moved side to side

It blinked again, I blinked, confused at what I saw

Then another eye appeared, and another, and another

My empty page was no longer empty, it was looking at me

Waiting to see what I would draw

Alas, I could not draw for the page was no longer blank.
